Dennis L. Groom, age 64 of Jackson, formerly of Grass Lake was born on June 17, 1948 a blessed son to Robert "Bill" and Maxine (Pitts) Groom in Jackson County, Michigan. On June 19, 2012, he went home to be with the Lord. Dennis leaves behind his loving wife of 30 years, Paulette; sons, Dennis and Jason of Jackson; mother, Maxine George of Florida; sisters, Sue Groom of Florida and Jody Hoffman of Grass Lake; brother, Brian (Kathy) Groom of Jackson; 3 step sisters, Cathy (Harold) Harrington of Beaverton, Marge (Bruce) Little, Laurie (Ray) Beckman of Jackson; brothers-in-law, Doug (Pat) and Russ (Cathy) Straub; aunt, Bernice Stevens; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many blessed friends and special buddy "Brat". He is joining in heaven with his father; step dad, Dick George; grandson, Jay Bird; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Ruben and Alice Straub and all the other relatives that are there to welcome him home. Dennis was an avid Michigan Football Fan and enjoyed NASCAR, especially Dale Earnhardt Jr. He retired from Goodyear with 30 years of service. A celebration of his life will be held at 1 P.M. Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at Sherwood Funeral Home with visitation from 12 P.M. until the time of the service. Rev. John White will officiate.
